The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park Hotel is housed in an imposing and elegant Edwardian red brick building. The medium sized lobby is impressively decorated with brown and green marble walls. Also medium sized, the 200 guestrooms are furnished and decorated to an exceptionally high standard with antique furniture, Frette duvet covers and finest Irish linen. Whether staying in a luxury room or a suite, guests will notice an orchid gracing their pillow each evening. The en suite bathrooms are all kept in excellent condition.
The main restaurant – "Foliage" - is located on the ground floor. Its interior was designed by the renowned Adam Tihany, creator of Le Cirque in Manhattan, who has introduced clean lines and geometric shapes, combined with soft lighting and luxurious fabrics. Dark wood chairs are upholstered in butterscotch leather blending perfectly with the rosewood panelling. Behind the blinds, sandwiched between giant glass wall panels, are innumerable white silk leaves that come to life through clever lighting, their colours changing in tandem with the seasons. The restaurant serves inventive international cuisine.
Also designed by Adam Tihany, the "Park" restaurant has tables gazing out over Hyde Park. It is consistently excellent, offering a delicious healthy menu, including international and vegetarian dishes and using the finest and freshest ingredients. Lastly, the hotel bar has a theatrical theme, featuring leather armchairs, mohair, marble, glass, mirrors and wood. The walls are lined in beige silk with showcases displaying handcrafted cocktail glasses and ornamental barware.
